-Hypertension is too much pressure on arteries
What is the cause?
-Caused by plaque build up in arteries from smoking, too much alcohol, obesity, stress,genetics, or lack of physical activity.
How does it affect the heart and body?
-Heart is enlarged, puts too much pressure on organs.
-heart works harder to pump blood.
-Can lead to heart attack, stroke, or heart failure.
What it takes to become a cardiologist:
- Dedication and passion for being a cardiologist.
- Very big time commitment, you have to love it a lot.
- About 10 years to be a generic cardiologist, (4 years colloege, 4 years med school, 2-4 for cardio) and another 2-4 years if you want to specialize. ex: Vascular medicine
-Average day is seeing patients in the morning to early afternoon and then going to hospital and seeing ER patients.
